Home Birth Information

with Dr Davison

Here you will find information and details on the process of how I run your home birth service.

Private Midwifery Care

VISITS SCHEDULE.

First visits are arranged to discuss your circumstances, needs and wishes. I charge $250 for this visit, which is deducted from the fee if you decide to book with me.

Alternatively, you could come to the Independent midwives centre, 80 Canning Highway, East Fremantle, on Thursday mornings from 930-1130, where we have a meet and greet session. There is no charge if you come to the centre.

Please ring or text prior to coming to the clinic to ensure that I will be there.

All your antenatal visits are arranged at a mutually agreed time and place, usually in your own home or at my clinic in Fremantle.

The visits can last up to an hour - the purpose being to ensure that you are well, that your baby is growing well and that you have time to get to know and trust me.

I will discuss you and your partner's plans, concerns and questions about pregnancy, give you advice on how to prepare for birth and how to care for a baby, and I will help you to establish breast-feeding if you would like me to.

Antenatal visits are 4-6 weekly until 33 weeks, then fortnightly until 37 weeks and then weekly until your baby’s birth.

When labour starts I will attend you at home from the time you wish me to come until at least 2 hours after the placenta is delivered, or until both mother and baby are comfortable.

After your baby is born, I will visit every day for the first 3 days.

Thereafter, I visit according to your needs, for up to 6 weeks postnatally.

This Service

- Philosophy and Service Statement -

I believe that pregnancy and childbirth are normal, healthy events in the life of a family. This is a special time that needs care and support tailored to your needs - the care a midwife can give.

I became a midwife because it is my passion. I wanted to educate and empower women and their families, so they could make their own choices about the birth of their children.

I believe childbirth to be a life changing and natural process and I feel very privileged to be involved in this magical journey.
